New Build Langport
Underfloor Heating in a New‑Build Bungalow
A self-builder constructing a modern 4‑bedroom bungalow in Langport required an efficient, low‑temperature heating solution suitable for pairing with a heat pump. The aim was to deliver consistent comfort, maximise energy efficiency, and maintain a clean, radiator‑free interior.
System Overview
A full wet underfloor heating (UFH) system was installed across the entire property. Key features included:
- 6 independently controlled heating zones
- Manifold with flow meters and actuators
- Smart thermostats for room‑by‑room control
The system was designed to operate at 35–40°C flow temperature, ideal for heat pump performance.
Installation Highlights
- Pipework installed with 100–150 mm spacing depending on room demand
- All loops pressure‑tested before screeding
- Manifold positioned centrally for balanced distribution
- System commissioned and integrated with the property’s renewable heating source
Results
- Even, comfortable heat throughout the home
- Improved efficiency compared to traditional radiators
- Lower running costs due to low‑temperature operation
- Clean, modern interior with no wall‑mounted emitters
- Enhanced EPC rating and long‑term property value
